Adelitas Las Adelitas de Pancho Villa?
The Mexican revolution saw the growth of the feminist movement in Mexico. Women across the country joined the revolution in droves. Many women took traditional roles such as nursing and cooking, yet, many more fought alongside the men on the battlefields of Mexico's civil war. The women's contributions in battle became immortalized by the song titled "Adelita," a song first used to tell the tale of a love between a soldier and a woman who followed him to war. The title "Adelita" eventually described women soldiers of the revolution. The women of that generation sparked many social and economic challenges to the tradition role of women in Mexico.
Las Adelitas de Pancho Villa is our way of honoring those women and the women of our generation who do so much for our families and culture. All women members of Pancho Villa's Army will be titled Adelita! Additionally, Pancho Villa's Army will work with Adelita members to promote women inicitives and goals within our organization. Those goals include everything from tailoring Pancho Villa's Army events to promoting young Hispanic women organization.
Please join Pancho Villa's Army and help support the Mexican National Team! Help us make this organization a great organization!
